Sobering visuals. It is my view that we can all reduce our consumption by a little and there will be no harm to us. But there will be a great healing effect.

Clever artistry and very direct. The prison uniforms folded and the alluminum cans….wow.

Looks like America needs to go bye bye even more than other countries…..however the amount of plastic used world wide makes me embarrassed of my “humanity”.

BTW chris jordan site is phenomenal…..

So glad you looked at more of his work. The blue Whale, The breast augmentation barbies the tooth picks representing the cut trees. Yea. The amount of plastic... Once again i am overwhelmed by the numbers and the waste. He concentrates on the states. But i think its this bad if not worse everywhere.. I also think somehow we humans are blind to it much of it

It is very upsetting and overwhelming. The overwhelming part is the amount….I think most people cannot quantify it numerically because it is an abstract and the human mind has trouble with abstracts. So Chris is able to quantify it in a visual manner. Amazing. I fwd it via email link to friends.

Oh great. I hope the more that can see his work.. The more the impact. Its going to take enough of us changing our ways. For it to catch on. I wish there were stores where you could just get refills on products. Or we bring our own containers to purchase items. Would be a cool idea to start a business with that in mind.

all laundry soap comes in those giant tub containers…they used to make powder washer soap before. Dishwashing soap in plastic….baby bottles in plastic, water….water and plastic. Plastic is everywhere….children toys HORROR….so many get tossed out.

I have a Soda stream and we recycle Kombucha glass bottles and reuse them. The level of plastic that is out there in everyday products is unreal.

All liquid soap should come in pouches for refillable containers. I am sure there are pouches that are made of some biodegradable material from algae…no??

or may be changing the formula for the soaps??

Also so many people wash their clothes when they do not even need to be washed. That is another waste that deserves its own write up.

I switched years ago to bar soap instead of shower gels because of the waste.

Then shampoos and conditioners….again more plastic…never ending I do not think is even recycled because there is so much plastic. Recycling it is going to be polluting because it releases so much carcinogens.

And that is just for plastic. But yet the companies, and the environmental groups are focusing on abolishing plastic straws?? OK …. what a joke.

The era of plastic needs to end. Maybe it will end with a giant melt down…along with humans.

You are saying exactly what im thinking. I was thinking today about shampoo. Detergent all of it. Do we even need it.. We're talking not just the plastic but all the chemicals in these cleaners. I even realize with painting.. I use acrylic too. Oil is poisonous. And all the chemicals to clean it.yea a meltdown of some kind seems like its on the horizon

I haven't looked at the links YET, this is the same as putting a name to a face! I LOVE it!

It's disturbing how humanity chooses to exist in this reality.

do we choose, or are we designed, or are we manipulated, are we conditioned, are we programmed... but yea, either or.

Ladies, this is a very disturbing video, but I rank it amonst the most powerful works of 'fiction' I have ever seen. Don't watch it if you don't want something dark embedded in your mind but without words, this is the best depiction of where we are, how we got here, and the conditions in which we find ourselves. It doesn't have a damned thing to do with 'choice'.

well, talk about analogies to suicide attempts.. this time tho....

She had the choice to TRY and take off her one shoe at least... that might have given her some traction..😱 but also what the hell was she doing that she got there in the first place?

I had a dream where I was speeding around a curve on a highway overpass 40 or so feet high. I crashed through the guard rail, and as my car was flying through the air and started to point down, head first, I suddenly felt my self (not my body) swooosh out of the top of the car, right before it crashed. While watching the crash and floating in the sky above, the scene faded to black. The blackest black. There was NOTHING. There was no sense. There was no body. But I was aware.. I said to myself "I am in the void " I could think, but I could not sense anything, unless "seeing" black was a sense of sight. But I had the idea that I had a body and it was floating. although I couldn't see or feel it. I thought I had died, and left my physical body down in the car. I was at peace, total all encompassing peace is what I felt... and then I woke up.

Cat's, my dear lady, are not finicky. They merely have good taste. (I'm a Dog-Person for the record, though).

I was shocked as a child learning of the man-eating-tigers in India that actually never ate the men. They just sent them to another SIM.

From that point forward I have always been curious about the motive force behind predators where in the case of feral dogs and my friend's chickens, the dogs kilt the rooster but didn't eat it.

All of nature seems to be a viscious, senseless waste.
